This article mainly discusses the differences in flame retardancy between PE and PVC. Generally speaking, the flame retardant effect of PE tarpaulin is inferior to that of PVC. Even if flame retardants are added during production, the flame retardant effect of PE is still not as good as that of PVC. Adding flame retardants will still cause it to burn.

Sunshade sail is a kind of facilities for outdoor sunshade, often used in open Spaces, courtyards, balconies, terraces, swimming pools and other places. It is made of a soft waterproof material, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has some stretchability and weather resistance. The installation of a sunshade sail usually needs to be fixed to a supporting structure, such as a wall, post or bracket.

In all the different materials made of tarpaulin, PE tarpaulin should be regarded as the use of large, its production material is polyethylene PE.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) sunshade sails have become a popular choice for outdoor shading systems due to their excellent UV resistance, water resistance and breathability. Their durability is enhanced by adding UV stabilizers and antioxidants, making them suitable for a variety of environments including home courtyards, commercial spaces and agricultural facilities.

Polyethylene (PE for short, also known as polyethene) is the most commonly produced plastic in the world. It is very versatile and is used for buckets, plastic bags, freezer bags, bottle crates, baskets and dustbins - as well as for tents. Pipes and cable insulation are also made of PE. Polyethylene belongs to the plastic family of thermoplastics (plastic = malleable), which become softer and softer the more they are heated. In contact with chemicals, however, PE is very resistant: The material is resistant to salt solutions, alkalis and inorganic acids. Polyethylene is obtained through the polymerisation of ethene, a gaseous substance produced by the petrochemical processing of crude oil. Essentially, a distinction is made between two types of PE: The stretchable LDPE (LD = Low Density), which is used to make plastic bags and films, for example, and the more stable HDPE (HD = High Density), which is used to make pipes, among other things.
