A little tarp is a great tool for camping

The role of tarps in camping

1.  Temporary tents
One of the most common uses for tarps is as portable shelters or makeshift tents.  Although tarps don't offer as much coverage as tents, they are a lightweight option for those camping during the summer months.  And compared to a tent, tarps allow people to enjoy nature without spending a lot of money.  And when you need to camp near a fire, the tarp has a good reflective insulation effect.

2.  Moisture, water and sun protection
Even if your tent is waterproof, when the rain is heavy or there is a storm, the tarp can help protect the tent from rain and keep water out of the tent.  A tarp can also be used as a floor mat and placed under the tent to protect it from the ground and moisture.  And the tarp is perfect for making a parasol on hot days, quick and easy to assemble by simply pulling a string between two trees, allowing you to relax or sleep without getting burned by the sun.

3.  Use a tarp as a camping mat

Tarps are easy to clean and don't worry about food spills sticking to them.  A clean tarp in the kitchen or cooking area of your campsite will allow you to unwrap food without touching the ground, and will keep pesky insects away.  You can also easily lie down and take a nap.
